Something About Zune

I'm not one to post about technology, but I can't help but comment on a review of Microsoft's Zune that I read this morning. The Zune (code named "ipod killer") is apparently not compatible with Windows Media Player or Windows Vista. Why would Microsoft make a product that wasn't compatible with its other software? Given the number of people who will upgrade to Vista in the new year, why would anyone bother buying a mp3 player that wouldn't be compatible with the new OS? Seems strange to me.
